There's a question I bring to every IEP I review.
It's simpler than you'd expect.
*Does this IEP sound like your child?*
Not the child the document describes. Not the list of things they can't do yet.
Your child. What lights them up. How they learn best. What they bring to a room.
The IEP is supposed to start there, with who your child is, and carry that all the way through. Into the present levels. Into the goals. Into where services happen and
whether your child is in the room with their classmates.
When that connection holds, the IEP builds toward belonging.
When it breaks and it almost always breaks somewhere, your child gets moved out of the room. The plan shifts. The placement changes. And it happened so gradually nobody called it a decision.
🔵 Quick tip: Open your child's IEP and find the Present Levels section. This is where your child's strengths are supposed to
live.
Read it out loud. Does it sound like your child? Or does it sound like a report written about a stranger?
That's the first place the connection either holds or breaks
That connection is what we're tracing inside See Your Child's IEP Through a Strength Lens: Build Your Case for Inclusion.
Not
interested in this training? No worries. Click here and I won't send you the training emails.
Three live sessions. Real IEPs. Real tools. And I'll show you exactly where the connection breaks, and what to say to rebuild it.
These aren't watch-and-learn sessions. We want your voice in the conversation. They're on Zoom and you can
unmute. Ask your question and we'll talk through it together. Not a general answer. A real conversation.
If you're there live, you're not watching someone else get help. You're getting it yourself.
Come live if you
can. Sessions run at 1 pm Eastern · 12 pm Central · 11 am Mountain, that's the lunch break window for most parents. Pacific time, that's 10 am, it'll be worth the early break. ❤️

Our private Facebook group opens June 20. Sessions run June 23–25.
Can't make it live? Replays are available through June 29, but the live experience is different. You're not watching what happened. You're part of what happens.
Your child's strengths are clues. Nobody at that table is following them.
You'll start learning how on June 23rd.
