In yesterday's video, I talked about something you may feel but do not always know how to name:
The IEP can look complete on paper, but your child’s actual school day still does not feel right.
The goals are there.
The accommodations are
there.
The services are there.
But your child may still be pulled away from the classroom, sitting on the edge of the group, or receiving support that does not clearly help them participate and belong.
That's why I shared the Show Me the School Day Method, three
questions that help you move the conversation from paperwork to your child’s real school day.
Today, I'm going one layer deeper.
There is one strategy I used to suggest parents use at the beginning of every IEP meeting.
I still believe in the heart of it.
But I do not teach it the same way anymore.
Because being heard in the meeting is not the same
as being written into the IEP.
I’ll be live today (Wednesday) at:
10 am Mtn. Time, 12 pm ET, 11 am CT, and 9 am PT
to share what changed and how you can use your input in a way that is more likely to shape the actual IEP, not just the conversation in the room.
This is
part 2 of 3 of my video series on helping you understand whether your child’s IEP is truly building inclusion.
