You’ve been told to trust the professionals—that they know best.
You’ve been assured that if you follow the process, everything will work
out.
But let me ask you… How’s that workin’ out for ya? 🤨
For too many parents, the answer is not great.
You hope your child gets what they need, not just what’s convenient.
You assume staff will do what they say, that the system is designed to support your child. But then…
1️⃣ You walk into the IEP meeting, fully prepared, fully engaged, and ready to advocate. You pour
your heart into sharing your insights—only to find that when the final IEP comes back, your voice and your child's voice is nowhere to be found.
2️⃣ You come to the meeting armed with research, strategies, and proven solutions—expecting collaboration, expecting
action.
But instead, you get the polite nod, the empty “Thanks for sharing,” and then… nothing. changes.
3️⃣ You leave thinking, at least we have a solid IEP in
place.
But when it’s time for action?
It’s not being followed. The services aren’t happening, the supports are inconsistent, and you realize—this isn’t just a piece of paper. It’s a legal document… and it’s not being implemented with fidelity.
Here’s the truth no one tells you: The system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as it was designed.
And that design wasn’t built to nuture your
child's strengths and support their unique needs in inclusive classrooms.
So, what do you do?
