But when you target your efforts—one clear goal, one strategic ask, you'll have much more success.

TIP: Choose a goal for your targeted advocacy that aligns with your district’s existing professional development plans. This approach increases the likelihood that your request will be understood, supported, and implemented.

Step 3: Follow Up & Follow Through (see timestamps below)

Even the best-written IEPs can fall apart without ongoing conversations. Regular check-ins, requests for work samples, more frequent meaningful Progress Reports, and classroom observations help you catch and resolve problems early on and make sure your child receives the services, supports, and accommodations they deserve.

This is the same framework I’ve used to help parents shift from feeling powerless to being confident and in control of their child’s education.
