Many parents believe if an educator is recommending services in a special education room, that must be the best place for their child to
learn.
However, LRE is often used as a justification for segregation. LRE equates to more intensive services as needing to be provided in more restrictive
settings.
This results in children being stuck on the restrictiveness continuum – just one of six major flaws of the LRE principle!
