How many school districts do you need to try in order to find one that won't restrain your child or put them in a box?
Our guest, Michele Zephier moved her son to 5 different districts. On our live show, she described the abuse her son had to experience at school, sometimes being secluded eight times in a day. Can you imagine what her son was feeling about himself?
What would it be like to come back to school and everyday be with the people who have been abusing you?
When students are secluded and restrained at school the trauma is life-long. When your child does not communicate verbally it's hard to know some of the details of what happened. But there are always those photographs showing the marks and bruises.
Parents are impacted emotionally as they stare at the photos kept for documentation, and when they close their eyes at night and relive what their child had to endure. The financial impact for a single mother is huge. Every family member is affected when a child is being restrained and secluded at school.
In Michele's words, "It's our mission to shine a light into the darkness of this archaic practice."
