How is otter.ai going to help you?
1. It’s so much easier to review what was discussed and decided at meetings when you can listen to the recording, plus have a written transcript to follow along with.
2. It’s a great way to check the accuracy of the meeting minutes.
3. Use your free transcription to accurately describe the discussion/decisions from the meeting in a follow-up email.
Use this user-friendly starter guide to:
* Record Live Conversations in App or on the Web
Save a step and use otter.ai to record the IEP or ARD meeting to begin with.
* Tag Speakers
When reviewing your transcript, you can type each person's name and otter.ai will automatically identify them when they speak again.
TIP: try and enforce the meeting rule of only one person speaks at a time.
* Import Existing Recordings
What if you've already have a recording of an IEP or ARD meeting???
You're in luck! You can upload your recording to otter.ai, in just a couple steps.
* Re-listen To The Recording
While you listen you can follow along with the written transcription. Otter highlights the corresponding word within the text as the recording plays. It's pretty cool!
* Edit the Text
Please remember, the transcription is produced by using Artificial Intelligence and there will be errors. This is not a transcription you would use as a legal document. I use it to highlight parts of the meeting and to email it to the parents. I don't spend time editing it. If there is a part that doesn't make sense from reading the transcription, I just listen to that particular part. I also use it
to check the accuracy of the meeting minutes and what might be missing from the Prior Written Notice. It's easy to edit the text.
* Highlight Important Points
This is a great tool you can use, highlight those key points you don't want to forget. It's easey-peasey to do!
