Make Accommodations and Modifications in Minutes

Is the work your child has to do at home come with any accommodations or modifications?

1. Different ways to reach and teach your child, especially if your child is not one to just asked to sit and watch a video lesson or listen and pay attention to the content that's been delivered to them.

Ideas to try: • An outline of the lesson and the student can fill in the key points
• Make a concept map when listening to the lesson: they put

the main idea in on a piece of paper, and as they're listening to the lesson, write down information they've heard

• Graphic organizers to visually organize concepts and info

• Giving your child choices of what they work on first

• Choices of where to work, type of lighting, kind of seating

• Using word banks to help complete the assignment

2. Strategies to make schoolwork appropriate and achievable for your child’s performance level.

Ideas to try: • Reduced workload

• An agenda or routine for the day

• Organization tips: Pocket Folder for completed work and work to

do, color-coded system (Math pocket folder is red, Reading

pocket folder is blue)

• Visual schedules, visual timers

• Mnemonics

• Larger font

3. Educational resources that can support your child’s learning

• Kidspiration, Inspiration

• SnapType

• Sporcle
