As we blaze trails for other families coming after us, we have to know that trail can become overgrown quite quickly. We need to have persistent advocacy in order to create that systematic change. I encourage families to partner with other parents or support groups to keep it going. It is very emotionally and financially draining and there will be times that you want to give up and say enough is enough. We have to keep encouraging each other to continue. Charmaine Thaner

You go for it or you find somebody that you can partner with who balances out your style. If it's non-confrontational, find somebody who's willing to take all the knowledge you have and put it on the table in front and present it. Figure out what you can do and find help with what you don't feel comfortable doing. Kim Kerdich
