"We also have to accept disabled ways of being as different, legitimate, meaningful and valuable
ways of being.
So not just different but legitimate, meaningful and valuable. Those are really important words. We're not just kind of going, oh, yes, you're too different, but I still accept you.
But that there's real value in that difference. And it's a legitimate way of being, even when it seems like it's very different from my own way of being and we really have to believe that disabled people do not need to be cured."

Did you
miss our live show on Thursday, May 10th? This is one not to be missed! Click here, to see the replay and gain insight from the thought provoking words of Taina Karru-Olsen, parent of disabled daughter and parent
ally.
I love the conversations that were created by the show. As a matter of fact, I'm going to continue the conversation with you this coming Thursday! We'll be using these questions as our conversation starters:
1. Do you use Identity First or People First Language?
2. Does your child have Disability Pride?
3. Can you have broader and high expectations for your child?
On this week's live show discover ways to change from a mindset of "ableism" to authentic celebration of differences!
I know as a parent you often see the impact of unintended consequences of others' language and
actions when they are with your child.
Grab your lunch and join us for a show guaranteed to help you clarify why Disability Pride will make a difference in your child's life!
Our shows are richer when you are with us live. Make your way over to Facebook on Thursday, May 17th, Noon Mtn. Time, 2pm ET, 1pm CT,
11am PT. The replay will also be available.
See you on Thursday!
