Inclusion: 3 Action Steps To Take

One parent standing alone has a formidable task to bring about meaningful, lasting change.

A small group of parents of children with disabilities can easily be dismissed by boards of education and administrators and be seen only as a "special interest group."

We have to stop looking at how we can change education just for students with disabilities. Creating inclusive education is about each and every child sitting at a desk in our schools.

I challenge myself and you to look at 3 new ways we can rally all parents in our schools to call for ways so:

* each and every student is taught in ways that make sense for him or her;
* that every single student has a way they can show others what they know and what they have learned;
* and maybe most importantly how we can ensure everyone's child is excited about learning and is actively engaged in the learning process.

Thursday, Feb. 1st we're going to focus on 3 ways to advocate for inclusion that goes beyond students with disabilities.
